DAC7 reporting

DAC7 is an EU tax directive that requires platform operators, such as Tiptapp, to report data on their users' earnings to local tax authorities. This legislation came into force on January 1, 2023, and reporting must be completed every calendar year. The first report is due by January 31, 2024 (for calendar year 2023).

The reporting has no impact on your obligation to pay tax and does not change the rules on how income from platforms is taxed. Read more about it below.

What data will be shared with the local tax authorities?

For the person concerned by the reporting, we will submit the following data:

  • Personal data - based on the information we receive when the user's identity is verified when using our app.

  • The user's home address.

  • The country of residence of the user

  • The number of paid ads the user has completed during the year.

  • The amount of compensation paid to the user during the year.

  • Bank account details used for payments.

The data is sent to the local tax authorities once a year, in January.

How does this affect my taxes?

It is important to know that our reporting to the local tax authorities does not affect your obligation to pay taxes. The new reporting rules do not change the rules on how your income is taxed. As before, you need to follow the rules that apply to the taxation of the income you receive through platforms such as Tiptapp. Contact your local tax authority for questions or read more on your local tax authority’s website.

How does reporting relate to GDPR?

The new rules give Tiptapp a legal obligation to share certain user data with your local tax authority. This is the legal basis for the processing of personal data for this purpose. We are obliged to save information about your transactions in order to be able to report them to your local tax authority. This means that even if you delete your Tiptapp account, we need to keep the information we need to fulfill our obligation to report your transactions to your local tax authority.

Where can I read more?

If you have more questions about what the new rules mean or need legal guidance, you can read more on the website of your local tax authority.
